Globally, it is recorded that there are food wastages during festive seasons because the full (people with abundance) share with the full while the hungry’s table remains empty. ‘Make them Merry’ is an effort to ensure that the less privileged memorably celebrates Christmas.
But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just. Luke 14:14-14
Our outreach will undoubtedly help you share the joy of Christmas with children and youths who cannot reward you but need your help as they wouldn’t have enjoyed Christmas the way they desire. Remember, he that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again (Proverbs 19:17).
The Lord will bless you as you support us with your gifts.
And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God. Lev 19:10
Apart from the edibles, the raffle draw event allows a lucky child to take home a surprise: Christmas chicken, books, and toys, to mention but three.
Vision
To make every child merry during Christmas
Mission
- Through gift sharing, we put a smile on every child within our reach during Christmas. Special attention is given to remote villages and rural areas.
- With the gospel of Jesus, every child God brings our way must come to the knowledge of the saving grace of God.
- Through a fun-filled Christmas party, we provide a platform which every child can have fun
Who is a Merry Maker?
A merrymaker is anyone who supports the vision and mission stated above. They are in three categories
- Cooperate Donors: Organisations which support our activities with their products or financial support
- Faithful Partners: Individuals who donate cash towards the success of this programme
- Volunteers: Individuals who are involved in organising the main events; engaging in activities ranging from the packing of gifts, planning of outreaches, praying, driving to remote areas, and organising parties for young people, among other responsibilities. These people give their time and are at the forefront of delivering the expected supports to the targeted beneficiaries.
Here are some of our past outreach programmes, specifically the year 2020 Make them merry:
Above is Agbojo village, which is located close to Apata market, an hour drive from Akala Express Road off Kuola, Apata in Ibadan. In 2020, volunteers travelled down to the place offering gifts packs with content ranging from spaghetti, 500g of Rice sponsored by the TITAN ricehttps://www.titanfarms.org/, biscuits, sweets donated by sword sweet confectionaryhttps://swordsweet.com/ and notebooks sponsored by The TAIDOP College ABEOKUTA. These gifts were distributed to about 200 children in this particular village.
Apart from these gifts, the presence of the volunteers, their prayers, teachings about the gospel of Christ and show of love added to the merriment which the Christmas season brings. It brought the children the sense of being essential and meeting some of their basic needs. To ensure that those children and many more get another remarkable Christmas this year, 2021, it becomes expedient to solicit the public’s help.
The image above also shows the gathering scene of another set of children who benefitted from 2020 Make them Merry Outreach Programme. The setting above is in Ogundele Alaho village, an hour drive from Omi Adio Market, off Abeokuta-Ibadan Expressway. During this visit, approximately 150 children were given gifts packs. Apart from the teaching of the gospel of Christ, prayers, the show of love and care to those children, the visit revealed some salient problems which interested this organisation. For example, most of the children in the village were poorly literate, even with a school in the locality. Knowing the importance of literacy in the sustainability of an individual and their ability to fulfil God’s purpose on earth, the organisation deemed it fit to give more functional assistance that would solve the children’s literacy problems in the locality sought the public’s support.
The third set of beneficiaries consisted of children from Arise, Olosun, Ajokete and Siba areas who converged at our church base. Over 200 children made up the gathering, and they were gifted with the exact content of packs as those in the previous pictures. Additionally, they benefitted from the word of God for their salvation, prayers and, of course, the show of love. On this day we got ice cream from FANMILK PLC
To continue this tradition and repeat these events this year, 2021, and beyond, the Make them Merry solicits the public’s supports. This is to ensure that the children, teenagers and youths in many remote communities in Nigeria can indeed have a merry Christmas filled with the love and care of Christ and humans, which are the fundamental reasons for the yearly celebration of the birth of Christ. Therefore, Let’s make the Christmas season worth their expectations and hope this year.
