The Strange Mix

The madness in town now is that some charlatans claim that mixing African Traditional Religion (ATR) with faith in Christ Jesus is acceptable for surviving Nigeria’s insecurity.
They also claim that returning to our roots (invoking demons through incantations, idol worship, making incisions, eating concoctions, and so many other things) does not violate the word of God or his will. This madness is not new; it has been with humanity since God began interacting with them. Jacob told the people traveling with him on his way back to Isaac from Laban’s house to get rid of the idols they were carrying.

Jacob knew that God would scan him and all the people in his company, and the result would be negative if anyone was found with an idol during the building of an altar for God. The God of that time has not changed.
If you want to understand God’s position on any matter, just check his word. The word of God consistently instructs its children, in both the Old and New Testaments, to have nothing to do with the devil and his works.

The word of God cannot grow in an environment where the believer is mixing faith with occultism. It is an environment where the demons thrive.
Simon the sorcerer had used sorcery to control people with great influence, and he pretended to be born again. Later, when Peter and John came to lay hands on the people to receive the Holy Ghost baptism. Simon the sorcerer offered them money to receive the ability to lay hands on people to receive the holy ghost.

Anyone who advocates mixing darkness and light has no part in the matter of light but in darkness.
