Jesus provided the picture of the unsaved on several occasions in his earthly ministry. Among them is the account in John 8
Picture one
John 8:23
And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
The picture here shows the address of the unsaved man. An unsaved man or woman is from beneath and belongs to the world. And the same will die in sin; the only way out is to believe that Jesus is the son of God. In addition, accept that he died and was resurrected on the third day. Without doing this, you will remain beneath. Some parts of town are not held in high esteem. For example, Hudson Yards is the most expensive neighbourhood in New York City. As soon as you mention that place as your address anywhere, you are considered a high socioeconomic status individual. In the words of Jesus, if you repent of your sins, you will relocate from beneath to above. The Beneath, which Jesus refers to, means that you are in the kingdom of darkness.
Picture two
Joh 8:34
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
The picture here shows that whosoever is unsaved is a servant to sin. Such is under the bondage of corruption.
Roman 6:16
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death or of obedience unto righteousness?
If you are still under the dominion of sin, it dictates all you will do for yourself. Sin tells you what to do and where to go. Therefore, servanthood to the prince of the power of the air and the spirit that is working in the children of disobedience is not a desirable state of living.
Picture three
John 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
This picture depicts an unsaved man has a father. The father of the unsaved man and woman is the devil. In my culture, who your father means a lot. People can predict how you will behave by studying your ancestry. The same applies to the Jews, and Jesus used this analogy to drive home his point.
Jesus also described the characters of the father of the unsaved.
- Devil, the father of the unsaved, is a murderer from the beginning. He has killed many in the past, including his children. Having a murderous father is nothing to be proud of.
- Devil, the father of the unsaved, does not abide in the truth. You cannot trust the devil as a father because he lives in lies. He is not just a liar but the father of it. He cannot speak the truth. No doubt, the father of anyone who is unsaved is a liar.
Do not assume that lying, which Jesus spoke of, means that the unsaved is just untruthful. It means that the devil (the father of the unsaved) has an alternative to God that he presents to his children to have a sense of belonging in his house. Religion, fame, pleasure, wealth, vain philosophy, power and much more are examples of the devil’s alternatives. So that his children will not consider godliness. Unfortunately, the devil is waiting to kill his children (the unsaved) at the end of the alternative.
Coming to Jesus is very simple.
Accept that Jesus is the son of God and believe that he died and was resurrected. And you will be saved.
Confession
Lord Jesus, I believe I am guilty because I came from Adam. I confess that you are a son of God. I think that you died and were resurrected on the third day. I am now saved.
I will be glad to hear from you because you are now the son of God. You are now sited with Christ in the heavenly places far above principalities and powers.
